Dr. Peter Berk

Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital began as a one-veterinarian, three-room clinic when Dr. Peter Berk purchased the facility in 1964. After more than forty years and three additions, the facility has expanded to a large three-veterinarian, fully equipped hospital with a full-service boarding and day care center attached.

Dr. Berk received his Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri. He interned for one year in Bradenton, Florida and completed a one-year post doctoral study in surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

He is very involved in he veterinary community. He has been a past president of Hartford County Veterinary Medical Association, and he is an active member of AVMA, AAHA, CUMA, and HCVMA. Dr. Berk is also a recipient of the NIH grant for study in thoracic surgery. Also of interest, he was a consultant for two years with United Technologies space research project using primates.

Dr. Berk's three children have also been successful in their careers. Katie, who lives in Vermont, is a clinical psychologist with a Ph. D., Andrew and Jeff are equine veterinarians living in Los Angeles and Florida, respectively.

Hobbies include competitive horse sports - he frequently participates in equestrian events and polo - he also enjoys skiing and tennis. Dr. Berk has a cat, Joe Black, who resides here with us at the hospital eager to greet each visitor.

Dr. David Staudacher

Dr. Staudacher moved back to Connecticut in 1988 after working in a small animal practice for two years in Pennsylvania. He grew up moving across the country a couple of times but considered Connecticut his home state, having graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1974. His Veterinary degree is from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986.

His wife Allison has put up with him since 1979. They have three great kids: Adam, Christian, and Emma. They have lived in Canton since returning to Connecticut. Allison is a true Nutmegger, born in Greenwich and also a Ridgefield High grad.

Dr. Staudacher joined Roaring Brook in 1988 (then known as VMA) and has grown with it since then. His favorite area of practice is internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. His Hobbies include music and reading, as well as being a fairly avid sports fan.

He looks forward to continued growth with Roaring Brook in the future as the office and staff continue to expand!

Dr. Monica Dijanic

Dr. Monica Dijanic comes to Roaring Brook after spending the last three years practicing small animal medicine in the Puget Sound area of Washington. A former New Yorker she is happy to be back in the North East and away from the Seattle rain.

Before attending Ross Veterinary School in St. Kitts, the West Indies she spent time working in all areas of veterinary medicine, starting out as a volunteer and working her way up to veterinary technician. Through those years she "acquired" all four of her cats - Shadow, Frodo, Maximillian II, and Seamus - and a pound puppy named Wilson joined the family while she was in Washington.

While not working, her family tells her she "reads too much" so she balances that by going for long walks with Wilson. She is very much looking forward to exploring the Farmington River trails and re-starting Yoga while settling into her new neighborhood.
